The Recipe Whored is a place for me to store, organize and easily access recipes that I find in different places. I’m also going to jot down the impromptu meals I make that are delicious but then I promptly forget.
Recipeslut/Recipe Whored was a fun play on words that came to me on one hot summer day sitting with my husband. It is a concept that was a culmination of my feminist leanings, love of food, and burgeoning openness to bodily pleasures in my 30′s. Women have traditionally been the providers of home-cooked meals in the roles of wife and mother, and in that tradition, have been de-sexualized in these domestic roles. The concept of food and sex, in this context, affords a more multifaceted experience of being a woman.
I hope you find something here that you like, something that you experience that makes you remember the sweetness of being alive. The latest moment of this kind for me was yesterday when I bit into the sweetest, fresh from the field heirloom tomato. Cheers!
